Overview
Below is a list of different cables that are available to be borrowed from the Digital Media Production office. Many of the cables come in different lengths. Please see the booking system for specific sizes.
Audio Cables
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – 3.5mm Mini Jack Male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer audio device (computer, mp3 player, etc) into a recording device that accepts a 3.5mm input (an Edirol audio recorder for example).
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – 3.5mm Mini Jack Female
Useful for extending the length of a standard 3.5mm port or cable. This can be used in conjunction with a 3.5 mm Mini Jack Male – 3.5 Mini Jack Male cable and a consumer audio device (computer, mp3 player, etc) to connect to a recording device that accepts a 3.5mm input (an Edirol audio recorder for example).
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – Dual 3.5mm Mini Jack Female
Useful for splitting the output of a consumer audio device (computer, mp3 player, etc) so it may be connected to multiple devices that connect to a 3.5mm output (e.g. headphones, 3.5mm Mini Jack Male – 3.5mm Mini Jack Male cable).
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – Dual XLR Female
This cable can be used to connect the output of an audio device (microphone, computer, mp3 player, etc) into a recording device that accepts XLR output (e.g. a camera, recorder). The two XLR can either be used as separate channels on one recorder, or used on multiple recorders separately.
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – RCA Stereo Male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer audio device (computer, mp3 player, etc) into a recording device that accepts an RCA input (e.g. a mixer, certain TVs or stereos).
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – XLR Female
This cable can be used to connect the output of an audio device (microphone, computer, mp3 player, etc) into a recording device that accepts XLR output (e.g. a camera, recorder).
3.5mm Mini Jack Male – XLR Male
This cable can be used to connect the output of an audio device (microphone, computer, mp3 player, etc) into a recording device that accepts XLR input (e.g. a camera, recorder, mixer).
Male coaxial RCA – Male coaxial RCA
Useful for connecting from a source device (Blu-Ray Player, DVD player, PS4, set top box, ) to a TV / Monitor / projector / AV receiver or amplifier.
RCA mono male – RCA stereo female
Useful for splitting the output of an audio device (DVD player, PS3, set top box, stereo, etc) into two separate outputs, or converting a signal from Stereo to Mono (or reverse).
Stereo RCA male – Stereo RCA male
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (DVD player, PS3, stereo, amplifier, etc) into a recording device that accepts a stereo RCA input (e.g. a mixer).
TRS Male – RCA Male
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (stereo, amplifier, etc) into a recording device that accepts an RCA input (e.g. a Mixer).
TRS Male – TRS Male
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (stereo, amplifier, etc) into a recording device that accepts a TRS input (e.g. a mixer). This can also be used to connect musical instruments to amplifiers, mixers, and effect pedals.
TRS Male – XLR Female
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (microphone preamplifier, etc) into a recording device that accepts a TRS input (e.g. mixer, amplifier.
TRS Male – XLR Male
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (microphone, etc) into a recording device that accepts a TRS input (e.g. Mixer, amplifier).
XLR Female – Dual XLR Male
Useful for splitting and connecting the output of an audio device (microphone, etc) into a recording device that accepts an XLR input (e.g. Mixer). Generally used to record in multiple channels on a mixer.
XLR Female – XLR Male
Useful for connecting the output of an audio device (microphone, etc) into a recording device that accepts an XLR input (e.g. a Mixer).
Video Cables
BNC SDI Video – BNC SDI Video
Useful for connecting the output of an appropriate camera or video device into a recording device or SDI converter that accepts an SDI input.
Composite RCA Male – Composite RCA Male
Useful for connecting the output of a video device (DVD player, VCR, etc) into a recording or playback device that accepts an RCA input (e.g. TV, VCR) without audio.
Male RCA composite video and stereo audio – Male RCA composite video and stereo audio
Useful for connecting the output of a video device (DVD player, VCR, etc) into a recording or playback device that accepts an RCA input (e.g. TV, VCR).
S-video 4-pin male – s-video 4-pin male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device (computer, VCR, DVD player, etc) into another device that accepts an S-Video input (e.g. HDTV).
Male HDMI – Male HDMI
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device (PS3, Blu-Ray Player, etc) into a device that accepts an HDMI input (e.g. HDTV).
Male HDMI – Male Mini HDMI
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device (DSLR, etc) into a device that accepts an HDMI input (e.g. HDTV).
Computer Cables
DisplayPort Male – Male
Useful for connecting the output of a laptop or other device into a device that accepts a DisplayPort input (a monitor for example).
DVI Male – DVI Male
Useful for connecting the output of a computer or laptop (computer, mp3 player, etc) into a device that accepts a DVI input (a monitor or projector for example).
Firewire 4-pin Male – Firewire 4-pin Male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device with FireWire capability (laptop, camcorder, etc) into a recording device that accepts a FireWire input (e.g. computer) to transfer video and audio.
Firewire 6-pin male – 4-pin male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device with FireWire capability (laptop, camcorder, etc) into a recording device that accepts a FireWire input (e.g. computer) to transfer video and audio.
Firewire 6-pin male – 6-pin male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device with FireWire capability (laptop, camcorder, etc) into a recording device that accepts a FireWire input (e.g. computer) to transfer video and audio.
Firewire 9-pin Male – 4-pin Male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer video device with FireWire capability (laptop, camcorder, etc) into a recording device that accepts a FireWire input (e.g. computer, display) to transfer video and audio.
USB A Male – USB B Male
Useful for connecting the output of a device that has USB B (External Hard Drives, etc) into a device that accepts a USB A input (a computer for example).
USB A Male – USB Mini Male
Useful for connecting the output of a consumer device (compact camera, mp3 player, etc) into a device that accepts a USB A input (a computer for example).
